The last couple weeks of my life have been suuuuuper hectic with university deadlines and the amount of hours I’ve worked but I can confirm I’m now FINISHED! (Until the 28th at least).
Now that I have a spare 5 minutes I thought I’d dive right back into blogging and review the Great Ocean Co. blue clay mask. This mask is relatively new to the market and retails for $34.95AUD (£19.94). You can currently only purchase this mask directly from Great Ocean Co’s site (purchase here) – however, I have no doubt that this product will become more readily available with time.
For just under £20, you’ll receive 120g (4.23Oz) of product in a cute little tub. 120g is a rather large amount of product and will definitely provide you with at least 15 masks!
This mask is said to prevent future blemishes from forming through it’s absorption of toxins. This is something I desperately need around winter as my skin gets battered by the cold weather and the party season. I also tend to get ‘bad’ skin when I’m stressed, so my skin is currently looking very red and defeated.
As you can see from the photo below, which was taken just before my first application of the mask, my skin is red and covered in blemishes. These blemishes were more like little raised bumps rather than full on white or blackheads.
I decided to leave the mask on for 20 minutes and rinse it with warm water and a flannel (cloth).
I’m aware these photos aren’t the best quality so please forgive for that.
After one use of this mask I can see and feel a slight difference in the state of my skin. My face also looks more pink compared to my neck in the second photo as I have tan on up to my jaw-line which I applied after my shower (the first image).
The redness around some of the larger blemishes has definitely reduced and my skin feels tighter, and the number of little bumpy blemishes has reduced, however, there isn’t a drastic change. I feel as though if I were to use this mask twice a week, every week, then my skin would really improve. Although, I cannot prove this without testing it for at least a month.
The mask has a nice general feel, it hardens as it dries and leaves your skin feeling cleansed and tightened after just one use, which is all I really expect from a mask. It has a general smell of facial cleansers/products, kind of like you’d expect a face cream from Nivea to smell like, so nothing special or exciting there!
On the plus side, this mask does come with a little spatula to apply the mask with. This means that you don’t have to use your fingers to remove the mask from the pot and spread more germs which could increase blemishes in future.
Overall, I think I prefer this to the Australian pink clay mask I own. This mask seems to have a better feel on my skin and I’ve tried blue clay masks in the past and they’ve really worked for me.
Results: ★★★ (after 1 use)
